PTI 9th Anniversary

Hi Friends,

After a loooooong silence I'm back to my crafting blog, and it took no less than a huge celebration that is going on right this moment :-) Papertrey Ink is celebrating its 9th anniversary and the fantastic design team of PTI is inspiring our crafting minds with hundreds of totally out-of-this world creations! The crafting community is happy to partake, and I could not possibly stay out of all the fun!!! Today I'm posting a card that I made for one of the challenges, where we were to create a card with supplies that we could grab in 5 minutes! This was a REAL challenge for me, because I normally hibernate over my stash for quite some time, trying to figure out what stamp set & colors are calling for my attention. A limit to this thinking process meant (to me!) - grab whatever your hand can reach, and just go with it. Challenge!!! I grabbed one of my all-time favourites, Quilled Elegance stamp set, the Wet Paint stamps and dies, KOI watercolor markers (love them dearly!!) some colored sequins, and here is what I made:

Happy Birdday :-)

Hi friends,

Today's weather is simply fantastic! It's warm and sunny outside, and my card today coincidentally reflects the warmth & beauty of early summer (yep, that's what our weather is notorious for - a jump from winter into summer with half a day of spring :-)

Today's birthday of my dear friend Annie K., so this card is for her. Happy BirDday, Annie! May warmth & sunshine be with you always :-) And this is the bluebird of happiness that just dropped by to wish you the same :-)

Thanks for dropping by and have a fantastic weekend!

Enjoy this lovely day :-)

Hi friends,

I have neglected my blog for a while, hope I'll have a bit more discipline posting & participating in some fun and exciting challenges in the cardmaking world :-) Today I'm sharing my very impromptu card that was made in a spur of a moment :-) I guess all crafters go through experimenting with inks, papers, stamps, and a number of cool techniques, and I think this free-flowing experimentation mode is what attracts me the most here...

My card today is a result of a number of  my past experiments with various things I learnt in the last couple of years :-) At some point, I had a new embossing folder on my desk that I just opened and was itching to try out with a piece of some scrap cardstock. I ran the paper through the machine, loved the image, but could not figure out how to use it. So I put it aside. For, like, 6 months... Then I was browsing through Make It Monday challenges over at PaperTrey Ink and found a fun technique with scraps that I immediately needed to try out too. I pulled my bag of scraps, diecut them into nice triangles and made a neat quilt-like circle, which, once again, I had no idea how to use on a card. Aside it goes for another couple of months... Then I was playing with the Wet Paint words (oh, I'm TOTALLY addicted to the WetPaint collection!!!) and was looking for some background layer that would take those diecut words nicely. That's when the long-forgotten embossed piece of paper came to light! I pulled it out, ran some Distress inks over the top to emphasize the embossed image a bit, then decided to add a bit of metallic rub-on inks on top to make & irresistibly shiny, then recalled my guilt-like circle, and all these random pieces started coming together for a fun & colourful card :-) I also had some "unsuccessfully colored" binding seam cuts, stashed in my "put-away-and-forget-it-ever-happened" box - you see, I had my share of play with Glimmer Mists at some point... Well, one of those pieces actually worked out absolutely great for this card! I love the end result, though it took about a year (maybe even longer!!) to make the card lol :-)

Thank you for dropping by, hope your day brings you joy and sunshine! Our weather is finally improving, with a ton of sunshine & warmth in the last few days, the spring is here, yay!!!

I'm posting the card for Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp, which is 'anything goes' this week.

Christmas mail

Hi Friends,

Today I'm posting a card with a fun envelope as the main image :-) I love the fun look of it, and the happy feeling it instills! The image stamp is by my beloved Stamping Bella (not sure if Em is carrying it any more), the greeting is by JustRite, colouring is done by Copics, and that's pretty much what it took to make this card. Well, a tiny bit of Glamour Dust glitter, MFT's stitched circle die, Cuttlebug's snowflake embossing folder and a piece of mirror-like cardstock for the background layer (part of which, by the way, reflects me taking picture of the card lol). The light is a bit off, and the card looks a tad dull, but in reality it's bright and sparkly :-)

I'm still using the window of opportunity over at Simon Says Stamp, and posting this card for the current Christmas/Holidays challenge.

Thank you for dropping by!

Hi Friends,

Today I'm posting a card with one of my all-time favourite stamps - Mo's Snowman with cardinal. I just love this image, it can work with any background and any colour scheme. I've colored it with Prisma pencils, used some Versa chalk ink to colour the image's background and then added some Glamour Dust glitter around, for additional sparkle. My challenge with this card was the puffy snow under the snowman. I haven't used the snow liquid for about a year (lol), so it became quite thick. So, here is me, done with the card, trying to add this little final touch, and the bottle just wouldn't cooperate!!!! It took me about 30 minutes to clean up the bottle's nozzle, then thin out the snow liquid for that final 30 seconds touch to the card... By the time the nozzle was cleaned, I was so frustrated that decided not to bother with researching what will work to thin the snow liquid, so just added plain water to see if that would work. It worked pretty well at the end, and now my snow liquid is running and puffing when heat is applied :-)

Oh, and after taking the picture, I realized that the twigs were uncolored! That's now fixed :-)
I'm entering it into three (wow!!) challenges - Mo's Snow or Snowflake theme, Simon's Christmas/Holidays theme, and Lia's Sparkle or Metallic theme.

Happy Santa

Hi Friends,

Today is a new day, and time for a new card. I've used a stamp that I got years ago at a scrapbook festival, and I believe it was one of my first rubber stamps ever. I just couldn't stop giggling when I saw it on a stand. Coloured, it brings my face to smile even more. It's a fun image, and to me it's just an illustration of good holiday mood :-) I'm entering my card into Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, which is Christmas/Holidays this week.

Thank you for stopping by!

Winter bliss

Hi friends,

I'm back into the crafting world after another loong break! I've been busy changing my job and going painfully through the learning process, but it's about time to focus on fun! Christmas/New Year are just around the corner, and I'm now deep into Xmas cards bliss! Today I'm posting one of my first snow cards, to be sent next week to one of my ex-colleagues. I find it quite challenging to figure out what people celebrate - Christmas, Hanuka or New Year... I love love love reindeer, Santa, Christmas tree and all the snowflaky stuff, so I'm just going along with what I like, and if I send a wrong card to my lovely recipients, folks, I just don't know any more :-))) Love you anyway and hope you'll still love me too!!!

This was a quick and pretty easy card, I wanted to use my abandoned background stamp with random spots for a snowfall feeling, and voila - it worked out! I'm also posting my card into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is Christmas/Holidays this week.

Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful holiday season! More cards are coming! :-)

June Happy Birthday

Hi Friends,

Today I'm posting a card I made for a very good friend of mine, whose birthday is just a day apart from mine :-) She's an open, generous, kind, strong and very very beautiful lady who I absolutely admire and am very happy to be friends with. Happy Birthday, my dear!

I made my card using Make It Crafty hair colouring tutorial (was that not fun!!!!), it took me a while to finish the image, but I am happy with the end result and am itching to try the colouring technique with some other colors :-) Background layer is done with the use of 6X6 stencil by The Crafters Workshop and gold embossing paste Ferro, so I'm entering my card into Simon Says Stamp weekly challenge, which is to use stencils this week.
Thank you for dropping by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Fathers' Day!

Hi Friends,

Today I'm posting a card that I made for my dad this year :-) I honestly cannot remember the stamp's manufacturer, as I tore the rubber off its mounting a while ago to save some storage space :-) I'd wanted to use this stamp for ages, but for some odd reason failed to do so, and the image stayed uncoloured/unloved embarrassingly long... Anyway, last night was the night :-) and here is the result. I love the outcome, to be honest :-) I had fun playing with the embossing folder & powder, with Spellbinders' dies and my Copic markers :-)

To all the dads out there, happy Fathers' Day! May your kids be healthy and prosperous! That's the best reward for being great dads, right? :-)

Wedded bliss

Hi Friends,

What a wonderful weather is in TO today! It's warm and sunny, and trees are finally covered with leaves! I'm posting a card today that my mom's friend asked for. The occasion is her relative's wedding. I jumped right into it! I love weddings! It's soooooo great to see people happy together, filled with love, tenderness and true care for each other! It's a bliss and a real miracle to find your 'half", someone you feel deeply for, share your interests with, and cannot imagine your life without :-) Yeah, I get emotional at weddings :-) Hope this couple will enjoy their big day tomorrow and will like my little simple (but trust me, VERY sparkly!!) card. And to my all married friends out there: folks, keep loving and cherishing each other the way you did on your big day :-) love you all!!!
